Please ask the sound designer to remove the annoying small room reverb killing the experience of this wonderfully unique WWII FPS. I hope this is just in the demo but the over the top and rather cheap echo is very distracting!

Thank you for your consideration,

Its sounds 'off' and not correct for the environment doesn't it? Sounds like your in a massive hallway all the time.

Yes it does. I understand the echo when being shot but it is constantly heard. Something as basic as footsteps have the annoyingly strong echo sound. It's a shame as this looks to be a game I have waited many years for. In any case, I am so happy to see a company bring us back to WWII. We have enough modern warfare games! I pre-ordered today.

I changed the title of the thread. The sound design is wonderful. It's just the echo that I wanted to comment on. Thnx!

If you were in WW2 combat boots running around on a cobble street with tall buildings on either side you would hear that sort of an echo. Once you slow down to a walk it goes away. Perhaps it is a little exaggerated but I like it. Guess I'm weird.

Any update on the odd sound?
Is the sound going to be improved in the retail version? I found the audio in the demo very odd, with too much echo effect when running around & the voices of the german soldiers very muffled. I thought it vey distracting & ruined any tension the demo level had. I hope this get’s fixed…

We don't get this issue here. What platform are you playing on? 360, PS3, PC?

If PC - perhaps share your sound card settings etc. Anything that can be of help to us.

Don't assume that we have deliberately added massive echo to ruin the game experience. Heh. We've worked really hard to get it sounding great! :) The issue you're experiencing is probably a combination of system settings / audio output device etc.

Send us some further info and we'll take a good look at it for you.

All the best,
Steve

Hi,

I have this same issue on pc. Using a logitech G930 headset. Footsteps (when running/walking upright) and enemy soldier voices have an insane echo on them. eg. each footstep sound has about 4 almost instant echos.

Strangely, my friend has the same headset, also on same os (win7 64bit) and says everything sounds great.

It's really distracting, hope a fix can be found.

I am a professional sound designer that works in game and TV audio. Trust me, it is not a sound card issue and I use a PS3 anyway. The echo can be heard on any YouTube video. It's funny to me that the devs do not hear this. As I have explained before, when you walk around (mostly on the run) you sound like a horse wearing metal shoes walking through a big lead pipe. If I was to spell out the sound, I would type it as... Tick-ah-tock-ah, Tick-ah-tock-ah, Tick-ah-tock-ah.

It is what is I suppose but I still say that it is very distracting and very out of place. Anyway, great graphics and beautiful art though!! I pre-ordered the game 3 weeks ago and I am still waiting for Amazon to ship. Grr!

Yeah, you're right! You can hear it pretty clearly on the youtube vid I just watched. Especially when running. When I'm playing though I don't run much, but the enemy soldiers voices suffer the same effect. Which really bugs me. I never imagined that it was by design that way! I hope they tone it down or make an option for it or something. It was the first thing I checked when I tried the demo was to look at the sound settings for a way to shut off that echo.

It sounds a bit odd sometimes, but to be honest I don't really care.

well since the devs says the sound is ok why should they ever fix it?
They cant listen to the end users and customers.. how would that look?
