I've been talking to 505 about the problem with saving at checkpoints on the PS3 and the outcome is not good.Mad

Me

The save game function on the PS3 is not working. There is obviously a lot of talk about this on the forums and thousands more that own the game that are suffering. Can we have an ETA on a patch to address this please? it’s a very basic core feature that all games have and should have.

505
Hi,

Can you please confirm the issue you are experiencing is that the game does not save your progress mid-mission, but you have to restart the whole mission?
We have had some reports of this, and the issue is currently being investigated by the developers.
Unfortunately, we do not have an ETA on a fix for this issue. Hopefully this will be fixed as soon as possible.
I apologise for not having a specific answer for you at this moment.

Best Regards,

Michael D.

Me

Hi Michael,

Yes this is correct. It only seems to happen once you have powered down the PS3 though, if you save, exit game but keep the PS3 switched on its fine. But nobody wants to leave their systems on over night really….
Many thanks for your response and I look forward to a hasty conclusion.

505

Hi,

We have been informed it is by design that the game does not save mid-mission on the PlayStation 3:

There is a slight difference in the way the Xbox 360 and PS3 version uses the checkpoint save progression. On PS3 version, if you quit the game your checkpoint progression is not retained and you need to continue on from the start of the mission if you reload the save. So you cannot start mid level on PS3.

We apologise for any inconvenience this might cause.

Best Regards,
Michael D.

Im disappointed in the way the support of this game is being handled by all involved to be honest. This save game revelation is a kick in the teeth to all us pre ordering and supportive players. I really am lost for words on this issue.

So basically what they are saying is they suck when it comes to programming for the PS3. WTF they can't make the PS3 save mid level! Sorry guys but thats a lame excuse, other developers can make saves mid level so why cant you?

More feedback here - I guess this is final?, i'm hoping Steve will be able to explain why checkpoint saves were left out or if it will and can be implemented at a later stage.

505 Support -

Hi,

I understand your confusion on this matter, but as I mentioned in my previous email, we have been informed this is by design.

However, I cannot agree with you when you say as there is no save feature in the game for the PS3. The game does save your progress on a mission-by-mission level, instead of on a Savepoint level.

I apologise for the inconvenience caused by this.

Michael D.

Cursing This BS better be a F%$#ING JOKE! Cursing What game doesn't save mid-misson??? I have NEVER played a game that doesn't save your progress! What is really funny, is that I got the same email response from "Michael D." saying that they were aware of the issue but did not have an ETA on a fix! This is total BULL! I have never had such an issue with a game and not been able to SPEAK with someone on the freaking phone!!! Give me a break! Now, I just think I want my money back! If they don't fix this issue SOON and I mean in the next 24-48 hours, I think all PS3 owners that are experiencing this issue should file complaints with PlayStation directly and contact the BBB! I feel like they STOLE my MONEY! Mad

I agree it's hard to believe that the ps3 version was ment to do this.

I just hope they will patch this sooner or later.

In my opinion it's real shame, I bought the game in Italy on last Sunday and I paid it 59euros. I'm enjoying the game but I can't play it for just 30 minutes 'cause I have to complete an entire mission to save my progresses. I think I'll join a class action if they won't release as soon as possible.

I am totally with you! To release a game like this and then leave us high and dry after we spend our money is completely unacceptable! If this issue is not fixed SOON we should look into a class action for PS3 owners! Unbelievable! I just can't help but to be really mad! This game had HUGH potential! This issue is a total game breaker!

Hi - just to confirm that 'as designed' was inapproprate terminology and we are looking at this particular issue very closely. More updates soon.

Jolly good. Could you reveal who represents who on the forums please, is SEV2 admin 505?, is SEV2 rebellion?.

I have just registered on the forum to voice my dissapointment with the current situation. I've been gaming since the Atari 2600, and I don't recall there ever being a time I have anticipated a game release so much to find it ruined by what should be a very basic element to get right.

I am almost in a state of disbelief at the responses people have received from 505 Games Technical Support. To insinuate that what is blatantly a flaw is in some way purposely designed into the programming is quite frankly preposterous, and I personally find incredibly insulting.

Why SEV2admin appears to be annoyingly evasive about his or her identity is confusing, as it does nothing to reassure me (or countless other consumers, I'm sure) that this matter is being taken seriously. It gives the impression that 505 Games are a company that are happy to take our money in the short term, with a clear lack of understanding of their customer base.

For those that keep their copies, I do hope that the save game issue is fixed. I'll be returning mine for a refund. Purely due to the attitude of 505 Games, I will not be advising anyone to make a purchase of this game on any platform, and would also advise avoidance of any further releases by this games company.

Public apology in the mainstream gaming magazines and online community for their error would be a way forward. If you make a mistake, just admit it and try to fix it instead of basically bullshi**ing. If nothing else, at least you may earn some respect from your customers instead of resentment...

I totally agree! "A state of disbelief” is a perfect way to put it! This does seem a little "hard to miss" for it to be such a basic function of any game. Have you ever played ANY game that didn’t save your progress thru each level? NOPE! I will admit that I also feel lied to and almost like they stole my money. How could you not know about an issue like this? And if you do know about an issue like this, you still release the game so you can make money? Seems like a bait and switch almost... I’m not trying to bash them by any means. I’m just stating how I feel.

I still have a hard time understanding why it’s taking so long for them to fix the issue. I don't really care about their lame automated responses as to why this is happening, and they seem WAY TOO EVASIVE on the issue! I personally would like some real answers, not from some "Tech Support" person but from the president/CEO of 505 and Rebellion. We need to know why this happened! Accident, oversight, or purposely! It doesn't matter, just tell us the truth. Also, are we going to see a fix and how long is it going to take? I think all PS3 owners should be given some kind of apology in a formal way. I also feel that since we are unable to play the game (as I believe it was intended) the way Xbox and PC owners are, then we should be given some kind of compensation. Especially for having to wait (almost 2 weeks now) without any kind of formal acknowledgement of the issue and a plan of action to amend the situation! We paid the same amount for the same product just as owners of other platforms, yet we are not able to enjoy it in the way they do. How is that right? How is that fair? Oh wait... I forgot, they already have my money, so why rush to make it right?

The saddest part is that this game really had such fantastic potential! I really like most of the game play, but sometimes I don’t have 3-4 hours to sit and play thru a complete mission! I have to give them credit for some of the things that they got right, like graphics, story line (what I got thru), visuals and realistic scenery. There are a few things that could have been improved upon but what game is perfect? Any game could use improvement in some way. The game breaker in this case is simply the autosave issue. All we can hope for is a fix, and soon!

This is the last day I play this game, today I'll be returning my copy for a refund or to take another game. It's very sad, beacuse I can't play a game for two hour to complete an entire mission. You should communicate officially a date to release a patch for such basic (BASIC) feature. In my opinion you should give ps3 users a compensation.

This has got to be a JOKE....

No PATCH will make me get a refund and never buy 505 stuff again..

I have sent 505 an email about the problem.. but as yet have not been given a reply.

Game has so much promise with maybe some DLC in the future.. but whats the point if you play a game (any game) and you can't save it either it be auto or a check point save..

Very annoyed by this.

Just be grateful they are looking into it, they could just leave it the way it is. Developers can't give you an ETA date on patches until they are complete and the certification process by Microsoft or Sony gets underway. At which time the patch can be delayed if any technical issues arise during testing.
