After reading the reviews I discovered something UN-FREAKING FORGIVABLE IN A SNIPER SIMULATION.....

SPAWNING ENEMIES.....??????? .... And the usual 'eagle eyed enemies' that always ruin that stealthy approach you invested alot of time in.

If this be the case, once again, Rebellion, you seem so close to actually pulling off a half decent game and then ....

'Enemy line of sight is wildly inconsistent. Too many attempts to be stealthy were shattered by eagle-eyed enemy soldiers you’d think have binoculars glued to their faces. My heart broke when I realized all the time I spent scanning empty windows for enemy snipers was a waste – the game seems to mainly spawn in enemy marksmen after you’re discovered. These missteps don’t ruin the game, but they’re enough to offset the hardcore sniping simulation.

In the challenging bombing run mode players must scavenge tank parts around the map in order to repair their ride home, which requires attentive teamwork and constant alertness. This mode would be flawless if not for the handful of enemies automatically spawned when you begin collecting parts. Like the magically appearing snipers mentioned earlier, forced encounters like this contradict the game’s core concept – be wholly aware of the battlefield. '

Are we making a freakin Arcade game or wot?

I truly hope Rebellion invests just a little time, and actually invests in their product after launch to fix some of these issues, because it would be ashame to ruin such a promising game.

I completely concur. I'm a player who will honestly take hours going through a mission. So frustrating when I take out multiple enemies without notice, scan ALL windows, then creep out and have a spawned sniper shoot me from the SAME window I just looked at and know was empty.
What's also disheartening is the promise to plan your attack to avoid detection, carrying it out perfectly, and having AI randomly know where you are from across the courtyard with SMGs. I enjoy this game but for once I want a truly immersive sniping simulation, one that tailors to people who really care about the genre and who want to be rewarded for their long hours of trying to stay hidden. Real world snipers go in, eliminate targets, and no one ever knew they were there. Unfortunately this seems impossible in the written script of this game.

I hit a guy in the head four times, saw the blood splatter each hit. Finally went down the fifth shot.

Enemies impervious to grenade explosions.

Enemies taking hits from Tommy and acting as if they are wearing armor. I even shot'em in the arm(s), and they raised their weapon to shoot.

If you are visible for a femto second, they can hit with you with instantly locked accurate aim with a short range weapon at a million yards.

Enemies you glimpse around the corner, then suddenly disappear with no footfalls. Where'd they go? And several other flaws.

Just another shooter game that could have been great, SHOULD have been great.

Same problems here. The way enemies spawn changes the feeling of this game from being Enemy at the Gates to playing a survival horror where you have no idea what's goign to happen next. It plays like an action game with cool ballistics simulations.

What happened to "Sniper's choice"? The only way to work through the game is usually to just kill everything that moves. And even on Marksman, the enemies almost always know exactly where you are. It's a fun game and I find myself going back to it, but it's a huge disappointment, and I'm still longing for an actual sniper game that lives up to more than just the ballistics simulations.

Ive always thought game "flaws" actually make it more realistic, in a sniper game even more so. Snipers adapt to the battlefield they are restricted in most real life scenarios, its the reason snipers survive. Learn your terrain and enemy routes. I dont see how random spawns is more realistic either.. Youre in the midst of war whos to say teams arent in the same building at the ready to shoot out the same window? I have no complaints.. It seems thats all people do anymore.. How can you play the demo and buy the game with different expectations? Its all running together..

@antwanthepawn

The spawns don't necessarily have to be random, but they're so heavily triggered that they make it a game of memorization. In the first level, when you go up into the building, there's a guy in the window and a guy outside. When you go downstairs, suddenly there are 5 more guys in the street that you were just looking at. How is it "realistic" that the best strategy is to kill anyone you can see because unspawned enemies can't see/hear you? The game is set up so that you see a group of enemies, take them out, and then move on to the next one. It's fine when a game throws in an occasional surprise enemy, but this game plays almost like house of the dead.

As for demo vs. retail, the developers were adamant that the demo was based on an old build and the game would be much different and less linear. Turns out they weren't being quite honest.

Also, here's a great example of why this is a problem.

@antwanthepawn

I completely agree in regards to complaining, I hate it as well. The devs should be given plenty of credit for even attempting to make a sniper game that they know probably won't appeal to the masses. I think for me I'm just disappointed at the potential that I see. I'm not necessarily calling for random spawns, just not as much obvious "triggered" situations that apple touched on. I just don't see the "choice" that the devs spoke of, I see all script and forced into situations when some could be avoided if played perfectly.

But to each his own. I hate to be complaining, just maybe set the bar too high in my expectations

Well I had no idea people were seeing enemy ais vanish clearly should be patched I havent seen any of these problems in playing all coop and single player tasks, but I guess people play differently.. Just less bash and more informative and it has my backing.. Games always have bugs but that glitch looks strictly visual and doesnt seem to deserve the title of 'fail'.

I agree, graphical issues i can live with.. (Like Dead Germans hanging in the free air or standing after beeing killed. But the example in the vid should have been picked up by the testers (perhaps they outsourced this to india? then im not surprised)

the only major concern i have with the game is that sometimes, not all the time but sometimes as mentioned above, i go stealth, nobody sees me then after 1 or 2 shots and retreating to the dark they know instantly where i am, which does suck a little bit.

Althout i love the game, playing it to death and not bored at all, superb game but again Devs... If you are reading this comment its not a dig at you or the game, i think the game is utterly fantastic and any dlc i will get but if you can somehow patch the game to address the crazy hawk eye they sometimes have that would be great as it does sometimes affect the fun factor of being a stealth sniper.

Thanks!

Great game though!
