my computer is well built, i can handle BF3 on an ultra/high/medium combo i like without losing frames at any sort of regular time. I have 2 460's which i've clocked up to a sexy number and they run phenomenally, running any and everything i want.

This game, however, decides that it wants to crash my computer. For some reason or another this game will either cause an over all failure in the computer, causing an immediate reboot and it'll just bring me to the mobo logo without so much as a blue screen or any explanation as I get into windows, or it will decide to hold the last tone it was playing and freeze my computer, requiring a hard reset and, again, no info when i get back into windows. I'm no slouch when it comes to computer diagnostics and repair, but this is just retarded and the only explanation is that SE is crashing my computer and if it damages my computer, that's my lively hood right there because I won't be able to work.

Are you able to a roll-back on your nVidia driver's (Or forward to the Beta drivers) as chance's are it's those. It could also be related to a Sound Card (Internal or External, perhaps a Realtek?) which could cause a hang quite easily. Again a driver check would soon rule those out. Once those checks are done I guess a reinstall would be best (of the game, not your OS ofc). After that it could well be anything. Here's hope those work for you :)

i don't understand how the current NVidia driver could be causing the issue, or how a sound card could cause a complete system freeze. If it doesn't work with the current drivers, why was it released?

No offence, but it's not as easy as you think to make sure a game runs on such a vast array of hardware. It's why driver's are updated. They are designed in a such a way that they can be patched to help fix issues related to game's and the associated hardware. Just have a look at each patch notes for the nVidia drivers. There are always game specific fixes. Not everything can be laid at the feet of the developer as it's unreasonable to believe they can test on every type or set-up of hardware. Your best bet, as mentioned is to try the driver suggestion's I mentioned earlier.

i understand it's a complicated process, and patches generally are game specific because it is so complicated, but what i'm saying is that there shouldn't be problems with current software that cause such a severe issue when a game is released.

i am curious as to why you stated that the audio card could be the issue as well, how does an audio card cause a system wide crash/freeze?

updating drivers to the 301.24 beta drivers seems to have solved it, played through an entire level, then DLC and it hasn't crashed yet.

i don't deal with AMD gfx cards, because i prefer NVidia for anything i use or build, but a quick google of your card shows it's a direct x 9.0c card which means by up-to-date Direct X for you, it is the latest release of direct x 9.0c. So your computer doesn't even have direct x 11, or if it did, it doesn't have the hardware capable of using it, therefore, it can't play a game based in DX11

i would recommend a complete overhaul to your computer or just scrap that thing all together, it sounds like a netbook would run faster without any gaming capability

ArmA, upon release had major issues with Realtek Sound be it on-board or external, to the point where it could, not always mind you, but could bring a system to a freeze crash. Other game's have had issues with dedicated sound cards also in the past. Glad to see that the driver's worked out for you. :)

That's a different error to the one here but the answer is a simple one. Your Graphics card only supports DirectX 9.0c not the required DirectX10/11. I'm afraid your unable to play the game with that card and would need to purchase a new one.

I'd like to point out the minimum specification's for the game, which you should always check before buying any game.

Memory: 2GB system memory
Hard Disk Space: 10GB of free drive space
Video Card: Microsoft® DirectX® 10.0 compatible graphics card with 256 MB of memory (NVIDIA® GeForce® 8800 series / ATI Radeon™ HD 3870) or better
Sound: Microsoft® DirectX® 10.0 compatible sound card or better

The bold section is the important bit. Sorry your just out of luck on that one.

I am having problems with SEV2 as well.
It will freeze totally. Keyboard does nothing. Even pressing the reset button has no effect.
I have to hold the power button for 4 secs to turn PC off, then I turn it on again.
I can be playing for 10 minutes or even for a hour, and then it freezes.
It's the only game I have that does this.
I have done a OS reinstall. No change.

My system is a
Intel Core i7 3930K Six core CPU
Gigabyte G1.Assassin2 Intel Socket 2011 motherboard
32 Gb DDR3 Ram
Asus AMD Radeon HD7970 3Gb Video Card driver version is 12.6
Intel 480 Gb SSD
WD 2Tb HDD
Windows 7 x64 Ultimate

Hope someone can help as I love playing this game.

These are the same issue i have been having
I have been trying to resolve them with the support guys, but so far its still not fixed (and they seem to have stopped talking to me now)

I have tried new GPU drivers, new sounds drivers, without sound, full reinstall of game, full reinstall of Steam, turned off Virtu Lucid graphics, everything apart from a Windows reinstall.

Really hope they can find a fix for this soon :(
