Well, here it is, the real SPOILERRROUS question: Would you recommend this to a friend?

Today a friend call my mobile, we haven't been talking in the past month or so, and he hadn't been logging into PSN (we are both PS3 owners) so really he had no idea what I had been up to. And so, after the formalities and some other stuff, he had to ask me the question I suddenly realized I dreaded.

"And hey, what are you playing? What's new?"

Oh sh*t. I remembered I had recommended him the demo through a PSN message, adding: "check this out, I used to play it in PS2", but since he had not logged in for more than a month he had not seen it. So I kinda told him, well, what did you expect me to say? I am playing something I kinda like but not sure since you are not familiar with the original, and this one really is sort of, erm, whatever, check your PSN Inbox, you'll see my message, give it a try.

Next thing he asked me is: "can we play it on-line?". Another one. And this one because we used to play others, not really seriously, but enoough to have some fun together.

Well, eventually, he'll download the demo. But I wanna ask you people, would you recommend Sniper Elite V2 to a friend?

Honestly? NO,As a fellow PS3 owner I would tell him to wait. To see if they sort out the mid level game save issues and some of the other glitchess and bugs. In the meantime I'I' would lend him my copy for few days to see if he likes it.If he is really interested Since he havent played SEV1 he will not be aware of all the features that are missing.

If he has a PC I point him in that direction and check the game out before he desides if to get a copy for his own or not..

I have already told 3 friends to stay clear of buying this until we see were the patch is going. 2 are former SEv 1 players and all 3 are picky about what to play.

Too many issues to recommend this game. The demo is awesome but the game falls on so many fronts. I actually left it back yesterday as a result of my disappointment with the game. Hoping to pick up Ghost Recon: Future Soldier tomorrow instead

What a negative people. You are all spoiled with all those features. I love the game how it is - with or without all the extras you people want!

YES, I would recommend this game ;-)

I just read in the IGN review that
"V2's new checkpoint system and automatic health regeneration makes experimenting with risky moves less punishing than the original."

When I read "the new checkpoint system" I automatically assumed they were not playing PS3, where you would hardly praise the in-game faulted save mechanics but the review is closed with
"IGN Ratings for Sniper Elite V2 (PS3)" Confused

Obviously these guys sat down and finished the game (or each mission) in one single run.

Anyway, I am going to send my friend the IGN review and also the one in destructoid. None of them give the game full justice, either too bad or too good, but enough info there to decide -also after playing the demo most people can make an accurate decision.

Depends on what my friends like.

Most of them play Modern Warfare and games like that. Probably for them I would say no.

But people who love the world war 2 setting and third person shooters, like socom in it's glory days. Yes, I can fully recommend it. Almost played the game for a total of 40 hours now, offline and in coöp. It's been a long time since I've had that much fun with a game!

I wouldn't recommend this game to anyone, let alone my friends, at least not in it's current state. I mean how could one recommend a game that sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. Maybe if they actually fixed the issues that people are having with the game the answer would be different, but as of right now, it would have to be a big fat NO on any recommendations.

Well... Cursing
The game is pretty short only 11 missions, I understand that some take a while but i've been playing games for a long time and its hard to actually find a game that's challenging even sniper elite difficulty isn't that hard once you understand the physics ETC of the game.

Know though.... If you think you will be playing sniper elite with your friend quite alot then it would be more entertaining. Once your friend completes the campaign (Solo or Co-op) then theirs really not much to do, so It just depends how much multiplayer you'll be playing.

PS: I think Sniper Elite V2 owners deserve a small Mission Pack DLC that adds 3 - 4 new missions and it should be FREE!

PSS: Although the killcams are entertaining to watch, so I kinda would recommend this game. BigGrin

I would recommend this game to anyone that enjoys taking their time with a game. I have yet to play a mission (aside from the Hitler DLC) that didn't take an hour or more. I a different post I mentioned ways to extend the life of the game, and right now I am playing through using one of those ideas and would tell any of my friends to play this game, and be sure to take your time and try to find all the wine and gold, then play through again trying for unusual or trick shots. I prefer shooting the grenades the most. So yes, a definite recommend from me.
Games are supposed to be fun, relax and let them be ...

well, i would recommend it to a pc gamer friend of mine, ps3 i dunno... aiming with the analog sticks...

we all like WW2 games, but we have only call of duty 2 and world at war... its very good to see a 3d person from this theme, and its cool features and cool and flex graphics is a must have for those who played the medal of honor on ps1 and ps2(the medal of honor frontline is a classic).

somehow the sniper theme makes the game even more real, in an age where all war games are one-man army.

Yep I know I'm reviving an old thread but I think it's worthy of new input.
As a PS3 & 360 owner I originally bought the game on the 360 because the demo was noticeably better than the PS3 one. Having then heard of the issues with the PS3 version I was glad I made that choice. I went on to get the 1000g before trading the game.

Moving on though... I recently picked up the game on the PS3 to play with my clan and it's clearly been fixed. I only ever have 1 issue that being an occasional freeze at the menu.

I would certainly recommend this game to a fellow PS3 owner now.

The devs deserve praise for the way they fixed this game because plenty of other games go unfixed.
